-BEA WebLogic integration

Integration of iBus//Mobile with BEA WebLogic Server™

Instant wireless functionality for all BEA WebLogic based applications!

Mobile Java applications can now directly connect to BEA WebLogic Server using various wireless protocols (GPRS, UMTS, CDPD, Mobitex, etc.).

How the integration works, an overview:

Applications for mobile and wireless devices can be developed by using Softwired's iBus//Mobile as an extension of popular J2EE application servers such as BEA WebLogic Server, and of JMS messaging products such as iBus//MessageServer.

Devices supported include those equipped with a J2ME or with a PersonalJava Virtual Machine, and which provide wireless connectivity. This is the case with devices such as Palm, Compaq iPaq, Motorola Accompli, Nokia 9210, Java phones, and so forth.

iBus//Mobile offers a messaging middleware thin client library compatible with the JMS (Java Message Service) standard. Also part of the iBus//Mobile offering is a Gateway component used to connect mobile applications to J2EE application servers, by means of JMS.

iBus//Mobile is industry's first and only wireless JMS solution. Applications deployed on the iBus//Mobile platform can be operated in disconnected mode from the J2EE server by using a "store-and-forward" message transmission approach.

-More information

JMS is part of the J2EE platform and includes a message queuing communication model suited for the reliable delivery of transactions from mobile devices to a J2EE backend. JMS further provides a publish/subscribe communications model, geared towards the transmission of instant notifications from a J2EE backend to many mobile devices. This makes JMS very appealing for the development of mobile client applications, which are deployed directly on wireless Java devices.

Enterprise JavaBeans get mobile!

From a technical point of view, a mobile Java application can use iBus//Mobile to directly call Enterprise JavaBeans running under control of BEA WebLogic, by means of JMS. No need to worry about reliability issues in a wireless environment. No need to write Servlets, Java Server Pages, and other time-consuming integration software. iBus//Mobile takes care of storing JMS messages locally on the device, in case of lack of wireless network coverage, of guaranteeing the delivery of transactions and of user data, of encrypting data, and of providing user authentication functions. iBus//Mobile further takes care of interfacing to various wireless network standards, and of integrating with positioning-, billing, and profiling services.

BEA's WebLogic Server application server therefore leverages the integrated wireless functionality of Softwired's iBus//Mobile to provide unparallel access to business applications from the desktop, the Web and a variety of wireless information devices. Thanks to iBus//Mobile, BEA WebLogic becomes a viable platform for mobile applications such as field sales automation, field service, customer intelligence, property management, Internet expenses, and supply chain and warehouse management to name a few.
